Nov 22nd Feeding Feeding These are the BEST High Chairs. Trust us. By Conz Preti As a mom of three kids under 4, I’ve done a lot of product testing to find the things that really work with our family. High chairs are one of those products I did a lot of testing, first because we lived in a tiny Brooklyn apartment when our first was a baby and we did not have room for a ton of stuff. Second, because we had surprise twins which meant we needed to find not one but two chairs that would work with our lifestyle. We also travel a lot (pre-pandemic that is) and a high chair is one of those things you need to have wherever you go. However, high chairs are not in the top priority when you are bringing a newborn home. After all, you won’t be needing one for about six months after. But trust me when I say, those months go really fast and then suddenly you’ll be needing to get one ASAP. Choosing one can be overwhelming because there are so many in the market. It’s key to focus on what your specific needs are. When deciding what’s the best high chair for you, take into consideration the following: How much space do you have? Do you want a chair that grows with your child? How portable is the chair? How easy is it to clean? Do you have a specific budget? Here are my favorite 7 high chairs: Best easy to clean chairCybex LemoSlick, simple and so easy to clean, the Cybex Lemo is ready for any messes early eaters have for it. The tray is detachable and dishwasher safe, the cushion fully comes off and is machine washable (you can also opt to not use it at all, the chair is still super comfortable), and all other surfaces are easy to wipe down. This chair also grows with your child, going from high chair to full adult chair. Age/weight limit: 6 months to 209 poundsWeight: 8 poundsDimensions: 22 x 20.9 x 32.3 inches Best budget chairIkea AntilopAt less than $20, the price of this Ikea chair is unbeatable and perfect for parents on a tight budget. Made of plastic and steel, there won’t be any extra cleaning to be done beyond a wipe down. The chair can also be easily taken apart if you need to store it away in a closet. Because of its materials, it’s also the perfect chair for your child to experiment with art projects, as you won’t need to worry about big messes (too much!). Age/weight limit: 33 poundsWeight: 7.9 poundsDimensions: 22 x 24 x 35 inches Best chair that grows with your childLaloThe super simple yet chic design makes this one of my all time favorite high chairs. It’s also super light which makes it easy to maneuver (even one handed!). Because of its design, it’s super easy to clean, the tray is dishwasher safe and the cushion is machine washable (you can also detach it if you rather not have to deal with cleaning it up regularly, because yes, kids are messy eaters). What I love the most about this chair is that it grows with your child. You can use it with a tray at first, move on to having the chair against the table, and then once your child has grown out of it, you can turn in into a toddler chair for playing or drawing (or even snacking at the Lalo table) Age/weight limit: 3 yearsWeight: 10 poundsDimensions: 24.5 x 24.5 x 33 inches Best minimalist chairStokke Tripp TrappThis minimalist chair was designed in 1972 by Peter Opsvik, a norwegian industrial designer. The no-frills scandinavian design makes it a contemporary favorite for parents looking for baby items that don’t clash (and maybe even accentuate) their home style. This chair also grows with your child, going from newborn (with an insert that is sold separately) all the way to an adult chair that can be used at the table. Age/weight limit: 6 months to 300 poundsWeight: 15.4 poundsDimensions: 19.3 x 31.1 x 18.1 inches Best adjustable chairOribel CocoonThis futuristic looking high chair is perfect to go from bottle feeding to self feeding, all in one. We had two of these with the twins and being able to switch the tray for a smaller bottle holder was key if one of us was doing bottle feeding alone. It’s super easy to clean since it doesn’t have any fabric, but the design still allows you to have some fun by choosing the color of the seat (or even buying a cushion attachment with a fun print). It is on the bigger side, but can be folded vertically to be stored in a closet. Age/weight limit: 6 months to 45 poundsWeight: 21.5 poundsDimensions: 19.69 x 11.81 x 41.73 inches Best travel chairphil&teds Lobster clip on chairThis clip-on high chair is everything for travel. It folds super small and you can throw in any bag or stroller basket. When we lived in our tiny apartment, this was our only chair and it lived clipped onto our marble countertop and was used daily. It’s super sturdy and safe, and it comes with an attachable tray for when you use it outside of your home. The brand also has incredibly good customer service. Age/weight limit: 6 months to 37 poundsWeight: 3.8 poundsDimensions: 13.78 x 13.39 x 3.15 inches Best outdoor chairRegalo portable high chairFor parents who love camping or spending a lot of time outside in the summer, this high chair was made for them. Just fold and go! There’s no set up required and it comes with a travel bag so you can keep in the trunk of your car or at grandma’s house. The seat is made with a mesh fabric to keep baby cool, but the downside is that it can only be spot cleaned as it’s attached to the legs. Age/weight limit: 6 months to 45 poundsWeight: 0.19 poundsDimensions: 24 x 24 x 37 inches
